Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport confirms aviation 'regulatory special case' for UAM demonstration work

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has confirmed special regulations that have flexibly revised some of the aviation-related laws to demonstrate urban air traffic (UAM).

First of all, only for UAM demonstration conditions, it was decided to allow aircraft registered in foreign countries to be registered in Korea in duplicate, and to allow demonstration flights in the city center.

In addition, new safety regulations suitable for UAM have been established to create a reporting system that is applied in the event of an accident or failure.

As the "UAM Demonstration Project Zone" subject to special regulations, Goheung, Jeollanam-do, where the first stage of the demonstration will be held in the second half of this year, and the Ara Waterway section, which is the second stage of the demonstration, were designated first.

Initially, the government aimed to commercialize UAM in 2025 through demonstration projects, but it is expected to take more time to commercialize.
