China has extended the visa-free entry period to 30 days, and Japan has also decided to include it again on the visa waiver list.

At a regular briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian announced that the government will add "exchange visits" to the purpose of visa-free visits, which are currently limited to business, tourism, and visits to relatives, and increase the visa-free stay from 15 days to 30 days.

He added that general passport holders from Japan and nine other countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan) will also be eligible for visa exemption from the 30th to December 31st next year.

The purpose of visa-free visits and measures to expand the duration apply to all visa-exempt countries, including our country.

Since the end of last year, China has unilaterally increased the number of visa-free countries, with nine added this time, bringing the total to 38.

China's aggressive visa-free expansion policy is seen as an attempt to seek economic effects of foreign tourism and consumption amid the economic slowdown, while also establishing friendships with neighboring countries ahead of the launch of the second Trump term in the U.S.
