The government has decided to support the repurposing of officetels for living accommodation called residences, raw lodging, and to abolish the floor heating area limit for officetels.

In this regard, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will prepare an amendment to the officetel construction standards and announce the administration from tomorrow (26th).

First of all, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has decided to exempt some regulations that were applied when re-using raw boiled eggs with building permits into officetels before the announcement of the support plan as a follow-up to the "support plan for legal use of raw boiled eggs" announced on October 16.

Accordingly, if some of the mature buildings are converted into officetels, there is no need to install a separate officetel-only entrance, and the existing centerline-based area calculation method is maintained.

However, during the process of signing the sale contract, it will be mandatory to write related matters in the building ledger so that authorized brokers and contracting parties can clearly know the details such as not installing exclusive entrances.

In addition, in the case of officetels, it was impossible to install floor heating if the area exceeded 120㎡, but the revision eliminated the last regulation restricting the residential use of officetels.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport expected that the legal use of raw boiled milk will be promoted by improving the exclusive entrance and area calculation method, which were obstacles to the conversion of raw boiled milk to officetels.

It is also expected that the abolition of floor heating area restrictions will contribute to the diversification of officetels and the revitalization of supply.
