Incheon United, a civic club, has decided to reform the club with the goal of returning to the first part of the 2026 season after overcoming the shock of "the first two-division relegation of the club."Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, who is in charge of the
team, held a press conference and said, "We will operate the Incheon United Emergency Innovation Committee above the 飛 to return to the first division of the K-League and strengthen the team's competitiveness."
The Emergency Innovation Committee will be chaired by Sogang University Professor Choi Dae-hyuk, an authority in the field of athletic physiology, and will be led by Seol Dong-sik, president of the Korea Leadership Association, Seo Hyung-wook, president of the soccer media "Footballist," and Chung Tae-joon, president of the Incheon Football Association.
The committee plans to improve the club's constitution and innovate by analyzing and diagnosing the team's power, discussing the composition of the team in preparation for the regular transfer market, and concrete ways to strengthen the team's power.
Apart from the committee's activities, it also plans to operate a communication council involving Incheon City Council members, former Incheon United representatives, board members, players' captains, supporters' representatives, and journalists.
Incheon United was automatically demoted to the second division next season after the bottom of the K-League's first division was confirmed this year.
Mayor Yoo said, "The operation of the Emergency Innovation Committee is the first step to returning to a strong club," and emphasized, "We will do our best to become a "100-year club" that leads the league stably, not a club that considers staying in the first division every season."
