A civic group filed a lawsuit against a series of fires at Pohang Steelworks.

A civic group has filed a lawsuit against POSCO for damages after a series of fires broke out at POSCO's Pohang Steel Mill's 3 Finex plant for two weeks.

The Pohang Youth Environmental Solidarity explained the background of the lawsuit, saying that many citizens suffered from the shock waves and explosions caused by the recent accident at POSCO's Pohang Steelworks.

It is said that it is in the process of recruiting victims and litigants.

Earlier, at around 11:10 p.m. yesterday (11th), a fire broke out at the POSCO Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex plant in Cheolje-dong, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and was extinguished in two hours.

On the 10th, two weeks ago, a fire broke out at the same factory and was extinguished in about five hours, and a worker was injured.

POSCO Pohang Steel Company issued a statement today (25th) and said it is sorry for causing a lot of worries and concerns due to a series of recent fire accidents, adding that it is in close consultation with related agencies to come up with fundamental measures to prevent recurrence and will handle all processes transparently.
