Korea's 'Doenjang' strengthens immune system: int'l report

'Doenjang', Korea's traditional fermented soybean paste, has been scientifically proven to strengthen the immune system of the human body.

South Korea's food and bioengineering company CJ Cheil Jedang cited a research paper published in the International Journal of Veterinary Science.

According to the paper, mice that were fed Doenjang powder showed a significant improvement in immunity.

The tests also showed an increased production of Natural Killer cells that fight off cells infected by certain viruses or cancer. The boosted immune system also proves to be highly anti-inflammatory, preventing the contraction of colds and atopic dermatitis.
