Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to new Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and urged him to keep his bilateral commitments on Taiwan and other issues."China and Japan are neighbors with a small stream of water, and it is in the fundamental interests of the people of both countries to take the path of peaceful coexistence, friendship, reciprocal cooperation and joint development," President
said in a congratulatory note.

"We hope to adhere to the 'four major political documents' principles and common perceptions of China and Japan, and to fully promote strategic reciprocal relations to build constructive and stable relations between China and Japan," he said.

The four major political texts refer to the Sino-Japanese Joint Statement during the diplomatic relations in 1972 and the Peace and Friendship Treaty in 1978, including the principle of "One China" and respect for mutual sovereignty and territorial integrity.Analysts say that President Xi's remarks at the

festival are aimed at Prime Minister Ishiba's security moves, which call for the creation of an 'Asian version of NATO' to keep China in check.
