U.S. Labor Relations Commission "Apple infringes on employee's right to improve working conditions" lawsuit

The U.S. National Labor Relations Commission filed a lawsuit on the 1st local time, accusing Apple of violating its employees' rights to organize and improve working conditions.

The National Labor Relations Board is an organization that balances labor-management relations in the labor market and protects workers' rights under the U.S. National Labor Relations Act.

"Apple required employees to sign contracts to keep illegal confidentiality and ban competitors from hiring after quitting and overly restricted discussions on company policies or working conditions on social media," the National Labor Relations Commission said in its complaint.

He emphasized, "This interferes with, suppresses, and enforces the rights of employees under federal labor law."

He then called on Apple to roll back its illegal rules on employee rights and notify all employees across the United States of their legal rights.

The lawsuit comes after Apple's former chief engineering manager filed a complaint against Apple with the National Labor Relations Board in 2021.

The former manager argued that Apple's set of rules, including confidentiality and social media, prohibit employees from talking to each other and the media about issues such as pay equity and gender discrimination.

"We have always respected the right of employees to discuss wages, working hours and working conditions, and this is reflected in the company's employment policy," Apple said in a rebuttal to the lawsuit.
