President Yoon Suk Yeol will make a state visit to the Philippines and Singapore for a six-day visit from the 6th with his wife, Kim Gun-hee, for a summit and attend the Korea-ASEAN Summit in Laos.

Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy chief of the National Security Office, held a briefing today and said President Yoon will hold summits in the Philippines and Singapore, respectively, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperate.

He will then move to Laos and attend summits with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and ASEAN to establish a "comprehensive strategic partnership" and attend a series of summits with ASEAN+3, that is, three countries, Korea, China, and Japan.

Park Chun-seop, senior presidential secretary for economic affairs, explained that ASEAN is one of the world's top five economies and is one of the top three export markets, accounting for 17% of our exports, and that it is rich in core minerals and raw materials.

He also said that the importance of strategic matters is growing in terms of economic security and that the two countries have a complementary industrial structure, and that this trip is expected to serve as an opportunity to further expand the ASEAN-Korea economic cooperation relationship.
