The government emphasized to the medical community that it is time to end the conflict between the medical community and the government, and suggested that efforts be made to resolve the misunderstandings accumulated and restore trust through dialogue.

Kwon Byung-ki, an essential medical support officer at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said at a briefing at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters today (4th), and repeatedly called on doctors to participate in the ruling and opposition council and the Special Committee on Medical Reform without preconditions.

Earlier, the government asked for a recommendation of members by the 18th, saying it would put more than a half of the members in the Medical Personnel Supply Estimation Committee for estimating the number of doctors, but the medical community suggested discussions on the increase of medical schools in 2025 as a prerequisite for participation in the dialogue.

The government maintains that the 2026 medical school quota can be discussed, but for the 2025 medical school quota, the college entrance process has already begun and is not the subject of discussion.
