Opposition lawmakers from the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee urged President Yoon Suk Yeol to immediately approve the second term of four high-ranking public official's criminal investigation department prosecutors.

They held a press conference and asked if they were intentionally paralyzing the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit, saying that they were neglecting the responsibility of the Chief Personnel Officer because it would not be enough to recruit personnel from the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.

In August, the Personnel Affairs Committee of the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit voted for a second term of four prosecutors, including senior prosecutor Lee Dae-hwan and senior prosecutor Cha Jeong-hyun, who are investigating allegations of external pressure on Chae's investigation and drug investigation by the police, and is waiting for the president's approval.
