U.S. and British troops attacked the base of the pro-Iranian rebel Houthi in Yemen on the 4th local time, Reuters and AFP reported, citing local media.

Houthi-run outlet Almasira TV said U.S. and British forces bombed airports in the port city of Hodeida, the capital Sanaa and midwestern Damar.

U.S. officials also said the U.S. military had struck a number of targets, including weapons systems, bases and military equipment of the pro-Iranian rebel Houthis in Yemen, the Associated Press said.

U.S. military officials said U.S. aircraft and ships struck the Houthi base, but the AP added that the attack had just ended and that the exact number of targets could not be determined.

Earlier, the Houthis posted a video on social media, saying it appeared when they attacked the British oil tanker Cordelia Moon with a drone in the Red Sea on the 1st.

The video showed the hull exploding and catching fire.

The Houthis have attacked merchant ships passing through the Red Sea in the name of Hamas support when Palestinian militant Hamas raided Israel in October last year and fired missiles and drones at Israel several times.
