Jazz singer Ungsan confesses his true story about jazz and life.

Ungsan appeared on the YTN cultural program "Culture Inside" (MC Park Min-seol), which will air on the 12th, and talked about various stories, including how he became a monk in his teens, how he fell in love with music, and a performance at the end of October.

Growing up in a religious Buddhist family, Ungsan wanted to become a monk in his teens. At 17, I entered the temple and had two years to practice, and in the meantime, I had a solid voice. Looking back, the whole process was a gift.

Ungsan said he had the time to make deeper sounds and breathe better, so he was able to do warm music that could be healing for many people.

After listening to Billie Holiday's "I'm A Fool To Want You," which her friend recorded on tape, she entered the path of jazz. I felt frustrated when I recorded my first album with world-class musicians in 2002, but at the same time, it was an opportunity to realize that I should be humble. Later, as he became more concerned about what music he wanted, he began to write songs that contained his personality.

I was able to develop my ability as a singer-songwriter because I made songs on my own despite the slump. Although he was praised as "Korea's representative jazz singer," he says he is more proud of the work of promoting jazz to the public than the word success.

Ungsan, who is recently immersed in Korean traditional jazz, said, "After putting the music of Korean traditional music in jazz, I have confidence that I am from Korea and I am a person who does my own jazz."

These days, I am preparing a new project to meet hip-hop musicians and dancers and modern dancers and singers. Ungsan said, "If there is a BTS that has introduced K-pop to the world, I would like to let you know that there are artists like BTS in other genres in Korea."

A more detailed interview on Ungsan, who has already been 28 years since his debut, will be available at the YTN "Culture Inside" cultural interview, which will air at 9:20 a.m. on the 12th.
