Since the news of Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature was announced last evening (10th), bookstores have been seeking the artist's work.

Even before the bookstore opened, some citizens were 'open running' to get books.

I'll go to the bookstore to see how it is now. Reporter Kim Lee Young!

Are citizens constantly visiting bookstores?

[Reporter]
Yes, especially during lunchtime for office workers, there were many people who wanted to get Han Kang's books.

As you can see behind us, right after the announcement of the Nobel Prize in Literature last night, a special section by Han Kang was prepared.

As the purchasing procession continued, all the books on display were sold out, and the shelves were empty.

After that, I could see the [vegetarian] that I was holding back in stock and getting back in line.

This morning, as soon as I opened the bookstore, I could see him 'open running' to get a book.

Citizens waited in line for entry about an hour before the bookstore opened.

The enthusiasm was so great that some citizens brought a small cart to hold books.

Let's listen to the stories of high school students who visited the bookstore.

[Kim Changyup / Hongje-dong, Seoul: I hope to take this opportunity to read it after the college entrance exam. I thought about it and came to buy it, but it's all sold out....]

[Yang Hyungjin / Sangam-dong, Seoul: There are a lot of friends who like Han Kang, so it's like celebrating the award.... I came to buy this book at the request of my parents.]

Major bookstores, including here, are quickly welcoming citizens who are visiting Han River writers' books by setting up a special section for Han River writers on their websites, expanding their shelves offline. There were some places where all the books

were sold out and pre-sale or additional supplies were secured.

It is expected to be an opportunity to meet the author's representative works such as 'The Booker Prize', the world's three largest literary awards, and 'The Vegetarian' to 'The Boy Is Coming', 'White', and 'Doesn't Say Goodbye' at once.

[Yang Myung-sook/Literature Part Director of Kyobo Bookstore Gwanghwamun Branch: All the books that had about 200 books were released yesterday. Today, we're going to have a maximum of 100 to 300 copies per bell, and I think we'll use up all of that within today.]

You were celebrating the news of winning the Nobel Prize in Literature?

[Reporter]
Yes, the citizens who met in Gwanghwamun greeted the award-winning author Han Kang with one voice.

It is the second time that a Korean has won a Nobel Prize after the late former President Kim Dae Jung, who received the Peace Prize in 2000.

As such, the reaction was that I was proud, and that I felt good as if I had won an award.

[Park Soo-wan / Yonggang-dong, Seoul: I'm a bit proud and I wanted to read it. I think this writer became interested in literature and other novels.

[Park Geun / Haengdang-dong, Seoul: It's hard, but it's sold a lot, so I think I want to try it. It's been a long time since we received this award, so I was proud of it..]

I'm sure there are some people who will stop by the bookstore on their way home from work.

With the weekend ahead, bookstores are expected to be crowded with people looking for Han Kang's works in the afternoon.

So far, I'm YTN Kim Yi-young at Kyobo Bookstore in Seoul.
