An official order has been issued by local administrative authorities to remove the Statue of Peace installed in Berlin, Germany.

The Korea Council, a civic group in Germany, said the Mitte Ward Office in Berlin recently sent a demolition order and demanded that the statue be completely demolished by the 31st.

The district office warned that if the statue is not removed during this period, a fine of 3,000 euros and 4.44 million won in our money will be imposed.

He also argued that preserving the statue "is an obstacle to the special diplomatic interests of the federal government and the city of Berlin," and that "the statue is not directly related to the Federal Republic of Germany and does not correspond to the memory and memorial culture of the German capital."

He added, "We can generalize the subject of sexual violence victims' claims of their own rights, but there is no clear reason to permanently install them in Mitegu."

The Korea Council said it will file an injunction with the court against the district office's demolition order.
