YouTube has decided to increase the maximum length of its short video service "Shorts" to three minutes.
Google Korea said on its YouTube Korean blog that it will increase the maximum length of shorts from one minute to three minutes from the day after tomorrow (15th).
YouTube said this was the most requested feature by the creator and stressed that it would allow more stories to be told in longer videos.
Earlier, China's TikTok extended its maximum video length to three minutes in 2021, and the release of Instagram in the U.S. is 1 minute and 30 seconds.
In this regard, YouTube's policy is analyzed to have other competitors in mind.
In particular, YouTube has an overwhelming share of the Korean video platform market, and it is observed that an increase in video length will affect the strengthening of dominance.
