The European Union and the EU criticized North Korea's alleged dispatch of troops to Russia as "a sign of Russia's severe urgency."

EU foreign affairs and security spokesman Peter Stano said at a briefing on the 21st local time that North Korea is "a bullying regime subject to a number of UN sanctions."

"If reports of troops moving from North Korea to Russia are confirmed, it will mean another level of tension and a deepening of cooperation between North Korea and Russia that ignores international norms and laws," Stano said.

"It shows that Russia will expand its illegal activities in Ukraine and has no interest in a peaceful resolution at all," it added.

In response to the National Intelligence Service's announcement on the 18th that North Korea has decided to send large-scale troops to Russia, the EU said it is ready to take measures, including considering additional EU sanctions, when confirmed.
