Regarding the decision by the Economic, Social and Labor Commission to exempt civil servants from working hours, civil service unions protested that they were not guaranteed a full time-off.
The Federation of Korean Government Employees' Union and the Korean Government Employees' Union held a press conference in front of the Economic, Social and Labor Council today (22nd) and claimed that the government has been unfaithful in its meeting with only a proposal of 30% of private unions.
They demanded that the government guarantee time-offs to the same level as the private sector, saying that the government is not accepting the characteristics of labor-management relations of civil servants, such as branch bargaining by department, ministry and agency.
He added that if the government forces discrimination only against civil servants unions, it will stage a strong fight.
