A hit-and-run driver in his 30s who fled after killing or injuring two people in their 20s in Gwangju has been put on trial.

The driver has been hiding for three days. Caught by the police, they couldn't prove drunk driving.

The prosecution's supplementary investigation confirmed that the driver drank at least two bottles of soju in several places, eventually adding to the charge of drunk driving.

The Maserati car crashed into a motorcycle that was leading in the middle of downtown Gwangju in the early morning of the 24th of last month.

Two people in their 20s were killed or seriously injured on the motorcycle, but the driver fled and was caught 67 hours later.

As the police failed to prove the blood alcohol level due to the three-day escape after the accident, the drunk driving charge could not be applied.

However, after complementary investigations by the prosecution, which took over the case, the driver Kim was put on trial due to the addition of charges of "drunk driving" as well as fatal escape injuries.

Account tracking, communication, and video analysis revealed that he had been drinking at least two bottles of soju while moving to fish cake restaurants, karaoke rooms, and sashimi restaurants before taking the wheel.

By entrusting the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to analyze the CCTV footage, they even found out how many soju the suspect drank at each drinking party.

When applying the Weedmark formula based on this, it turned out that Kim's blood alcohol level was at the level of license cancellation at the time of the accident.

Separately, the police are expanding their investigation into allegations that Kim and people around him were involved in the operation of illegal gambling sites or the distribution of cannon vehicles.
