Major domestic travel agencies performed poorly in the third quarter of the peak season in the wake of the economic downturn and the "Timpe" crisis.
Hana Tour said there were 495,000 overseas package travelers in the third quarter of this year, up 38% from the same period last year and 3% from the previous quarter.
Usually, the third quarter is considered the highest peak season for the travel industry due to the overlapping summer vacation and Chuseok holidays.
Modu Tour's overseas package travelers reached 218,000 in the third quarter, up 7% from the same period last year, but down 11% from the previous quarter.
It is analyzed that travel demand, which has increased since COVID-19, has slowed due to the economic downturn, and the aftermath of reservation cancellations due to the large-scale unpaid situation of Timon and Wemakeff has affected it.
