Former U.S. President Donald Trump is insisting on a "U-turn" over the Biden administration's energy policy focused on reducing carbon emissions.

Vice President Kamala Harris, on the other hand, is expected to act as a major variable in the U.S. presidential election as she is determined to continue the Biden administration's energy policy.

This is correspondent Lee Seung-yoon's report from New York.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump made a fossil fuel-oriented energy pledge under the pretext of lowering energy prices to stabilize prices.

[Donald Trump / Former U.S. President: We're going to drill for oil and gas. So, we will lower energy prices by 50% within a year from January 20th next year.]

Trump plans to increase fossil energy use again, saying he will quickly achieve energy independence,

Declared a 'U-turn' in the Biden administration's energy policy focused on reducing carbon emissions.

On the contrary, Vice President Kamala Harris has emphasized reducing carbon emissions and building a clean energy economy over the next decade.

He made it clear that he would continue the climate crisis response policy established by the Biden administration.

[CAMALA HARRIS / VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES] President Biden and I feel deeply responsible for the current situation and have made the largest investment in the history of the United States as well as the world.]

In the meantime, gasoline prices, one of the leading indicators of living prices in most states in the U.S., have fallen to near or below $3 a gallon.

You can refuel much cheaper than a few weeks ago in the past presidential election.

The U.S. media said Harris is "trying to take advantage of this economic boon by attributing the drop in gasoline prices to her own credit."

As a result of the presidential election, the energy issue is expected to act as one of the key variables regarding whether the exclamation or sigh will explode at Trump Tower, former President Trump's base in New York.
