U.S. Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump criticized Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris for "deliberately dismantling the border and opening the door wide" in connection with the surge in the influx of immigrants through the southern border.

"We have opened our borders wide for the invasion of criminal immigrants from prisons and mental hospitals around the world, from Venezuela to Africa and Congo," former President Trump said in a campaign speech in Maricopa County, Arizona, one of the southern Sun Belt states, on the 24th local time.

"We became a garbage dump. We're like the world's trash cans, he said. "It's the first time I've said it's a trash can, but it's a very accurate expression."

Former President Trump also announced immigration pledges on his first day in office, including the implementation of a large-scale deportation program for illegal immigrants, saying the U.S. is now occupied by illegal immigrants, but soon it will not, and that "November 5th will be called Liberation Day in the U.S."

He reiterated the blame for the rising crime rate in the U.S. due to the surge in illegal immigrants through the southern border, while promising a high-intensity deportation policy, appealing to voters in Arizona who border Mexico.

Targeting Hispanic votes, which account for 30% of Maricopa County, the site of the campaign, former President Trump promised, "Hispanic and black people are in a job crisis due to the invasion of the border of millions of people," and said, "We will not let this all happen."
