Philippine tropical storm 'Trammy' death toll rises to 65

At least 65 people have been killed when Tropical Storm Trami hits the Philippines, foreign media say.

According to the Associated Press on the 25th local time, 65 people have been killed in floods and landslides caused by Trami so far, according to the Philippine disaster authorities.The

trami moved westward through the northern Philippines island of Luzon, causing a lot of damage and then towards Vietnam, with maximum instantaneous wind speeds of 115km/h, it added.The impact of

trami led to heavy rain of 391 mm, equivalent to two months' worth of rainfall, in Batangas province, Calabarson, south of Luzon Island, for two days.

As a result, floods flooded everywhere in the Bicol region adjacent to the Calabarson region, increasing casualties.

Philippine disaster authorities said more than 2.6 million people had been affected by the storm, with 320,000 evacuated to shelters or homes of relatives.

In addition, government offices and schools, except for government departments and agencies essential for disaster response, were closed for the third day, and ferry services between islands were also suspended, leaving thousands stranded.
