A civic memorial contest will be held at Seoul Plaza this evening.

Yes, the second anniversary of the 10.29 Itaewon disaster will be held here in Seoul Plaza soon.

The exact start time is 6:34 p.m.

It was the first time the report was received on the day of the disaster.

Many citizens visited this place ahead of the memorial contest.

Earlier, the bereaved families and civic group held a four-term prayer meeting in front of Exit 1 of Itaewon Station in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, the site of the disaster, and paid tribute to 159 victims.

Afterwards, he marched from Itaewon Station to the presidential office, through Seoul Station, through the Itaewon Disaster Special Investigation Committee, and to Seoul Plaza, where the memorial convention will be held.

In a little while, the memorial meeting will feature remarks by bereaved families and surviving victims, as well as speeches by Song Ki-chun, chairman of the special assistance committee, and floor and standing representatives of seven ruling and opposition parties.

The Itaewon Disaster Special Task Force also runs a booth on one side of Seoul Plaza.

At the time of the disaster, survivors and witnesses are guided on how to apply for a fact-finding investigation and the procedure for receiving reports.

In the recent first trial, Yongsan-gu District Commissioner Park Hee-young and Seoul Metropolitan Police Commissioner Kim Kwang-ho were found not guilty, and the bereaved families condemned the court for passively interpreting the law and giving them indulgence.

In addition, he appealed for support, saying that citizens' interest and solidarity are more important than anything else for an unwavering fact-finding mission while the special investigation committee has taken its first step.
