Human Rights Commission changed regulations... "Rejecting without unanimous agreement."

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea has changed the rules so that it can reject the petition even if one member opposes the citation or the members' opinions are in a tight confrontation.

The Human Rights Commission held a plenary committee today (28th) and changed the regulation to change the subcommittee, which had been operated by three people so far, to a "four-person system" so that if the number of cited and rejected opinions is 2 to 2 equal, the petition will be rejected, and even if only one out of three members opposes it, the petition will be automatically rejected.

Last year, the proposal, led by standing committee members Kim Yong-won and Lee Choong-sang, reversed the convention of discussing or referring to the panel until reaching an agreement if even one member of the subcommittee on human rights, a consensus-based organization, opposes the agenda.

Lee Chung-sang, a standing member of the committee, said on the agenda that he was Newton, who proved his theory of movement, and that his remarks would be established as correct in time.

Standing committee member Nam Kyu-sun, who has opposed the vote, said the automatic dismissal would delay the commission's duty to remedy damage and improve human rights policies and tarnish its external image, as revealed by an administrative court ruling in July.
