Prosecutors investigating allegations of corruption in Saemangeum solar preferential treatment have begun to secure Shin Young-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea.
The joint investigation team of the National Financial Crimes Division of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office today (31st) requested an arrest warrant for lawmaker Shin on charges of bribery and violation of the Public Official Election Act under the Specific Crime Weighted Act.
Rep. Shin is accused of taking bribes to resolve complaints about the solar power business and of engaging in public opinion manipulation in the party's primary process ahead of the 22nd general election.
The court explained that because Shin is an incumbent lawmaker, he can set a warrant review date after receiving an arrest motion from the National Assembly.
