Regarding North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia, an EU official has warned that it is the first example of how increasing cooperation between North Korea and Russia in the war in Ukraine can also have a real impact on Northeast Asia.
Roland Honecamp, deputy director of the Korea-EU Foreign Relations Agency, said at a presentation of the "Korea-EU Mutual Awareness Survey" hosted by the Korean Embassy in Belgium at Rubin University, Belgium.
Deputy Director Honekamp said, "With the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East in crisis, potential instability will arise in Northeast Asia," adding, "It is very worrisome."
At the same time, he stressed that it is now of paramount importance to increase cooperation in the security and defense sectors in addition to the existing economic and trade sectors in relation to Korea-EU relations.
