At around 10 a.m., the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's scientific investigation team and firefighters went inside the building to identify themselves.

The fire broke out on the first floor of a six-story commercial building in Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, at 3:38 a.m. today (17th).
Concerns over human casualties increased as smoke flowed into accommodation facilities on the 5th and 6th floors of this building.
Fire authorities once issued a "second stage of response" that mobilized all the surrounding firefighting personnel and equipment to search for lives.
The fire was completely extinguished at 5:50 a.m., about two hours later.
