The Philippines suffered its sixth typhoon in a month as super typhoon 'Manny' hits the Philippines.

According to foreign media on the 17th of local time, Mann landed on the eastern Philippine island of Catanduanes the night before and arrived on Luzon Island in the northern Philippines.

Civil defense officials said the gulf, which was accompanied by enormous winds of up to 240 kilometers per hour, caused damage, destroying numerous homes and school buildings in Catanduanes and elsewhere.

"There was very little rain, but the wind was very strong," Catanduanes disaster response authorities said, adding that tidal surges soared more than 7 meters near houses by the sea.

It also says the typhoon has knocked down numerous utility poles and trees, disrupting power supplies across the state, and authorities are checking how many homes have been damaged.

As the bay approached, the Philippine government evacuated more than 750,000 residents, mainly in Catanduanes and other vulnerable areas.

At least two international airports and 26 domestic airports were temporarily closed, and ferries linking numerous islands were also suspended, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

Meteorological authorities predicted more than 200 millimeters of heavy rain over the next 24 hours as Mann passed through Manila and other parts of Luzon Island, causing floods and landslides everywhere.

It is the sixth typhoon to hit the Philippines in the last month or so.

Since late last month, five typhoons have hit the Philippines in a row, starting with Typhoon Trami, followed by Kongrey, Insing, Bellflower, and Usagi.

Experts have warned that Southeast Asia is one of the most vulnerable regions in the world to climate change, and that extreme climate events such as typhoons and heat waves are getting worse.
