"Rust," an unlucky western film in which a cinematographer was killed in the shooting of Hollywood star Alec Baldwin, has met with audiences in three years after overcoming a crisis of stranding.

It made its debut at the Polish 'Energy Cameramage' Film Festival, which is called the Oscars of cinematography.

Reporter Shin Woong-jin reports.

The premiere began with a silent tribute to the late cinematographer Hurley or Hutchins.

The movie Rust is about a 13-year-old boy who accidentally shoots a farmer and Alec Baldwin plays the child's grandfather.

[Sophie Lipinski / French Audience: I really forgot what happened around Hutchins and focused on the movie itself. I don't like Western dramas and it's not the genre I usually see.

In 2021, Hutchins, a 42-year-old cinematographer, was shot and killed by Baldwin while practicing shooting on the set of Rust in New Mexico.

The indicted Baldwin was cleared of manslaughter in July after a lengthy legal battle, claiming he did not know the live ammunition was loaded.

Instead, the employee who was in charge of the props received an 18-month sentence, and the bereaved family is still filing a civil lawsuit against Baldwin.

The film almost ran aground, but Hutchins' husband participated in the production, and the work came to light late.

[Joel Souza / 'Rust' Film Director: Releasing has never been an easy decision. Giving people her last work was important for me as well as for Hutchins' husband.

The first premiere of "Energy Cameramage" is called the academy of the filming world, and it is said that Hutchins longed for the film festival during his lifetime.

The main actor Baldwin did not participate here.
