From the first snow in the Seoul metropolitan area, "Snow Warning"...Concerns over congestion on the way to work

Since last night, the first snow has been observed in many parts of the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul and Incheon, and a heavy snow warning is in effect due to the prediction of a lot of snow until tomorrow.

Traffic congestion in the city center is also a concern ahead of full-fledged rush hour.

With "first snow" observed throughout the Seoul metropolitan area overnight, heavy snow warnings have been issued in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon inland and mountainous areas, and northeastern Gyeongbuk.

A heavy snow warning is issued when snow is predicted to accumulate more than 5cm in 24 hours.

In these areas, there are places with strong snow of 2 to 5cm per hour, and in eastern Jeollabuk-do and inland Chungcheongnam-do, there is about 1cm per hour of snow.

So far, 12.7cm of snow has fallen in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, 12.2cm in Seongbuk-gu, 11cm in Daehwa in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, and 6.4cm in Hongcheon.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that "first snow" was observed throughout the metropolitan area after 11 p.m. last night as rain in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province turned into snow.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said that as snow clouds gradually expand and strengthen inland, a lot of snow of up to 20cm or more in Gyeonggi Province and up to 10cm in Seoul will accumulate by tomorrow, and asked for attention to traffic safety on the morning and evening commute.

In particular, special attention should be paid to Gangwon-do, where the most snow is predicted to be up to 30cm, as the heavy snow warning is gradually being issued to the Yeongseo area following Yeongdong.
