Controversy is intensifying again in the United States over the summer time and daylight saving time system, which Korea introduced and abolished twice in the past.
Trump's second-term administration has vowed to abolish daylight saving time, citing social chaos and huge costs.

Every year on the second Sunday of March in the United States, the clock must be moved up by one hour.
Then winter comes back in the first week of November.
It is a summertime system introduced to utilize long daylight hours in time for summer when the sun rises early and sets late.
First proposed in the United States in the late 18th century, the Daylight Saving Time system was first implemented in Germany, which maintained a wartime system more than 130 years later.
Since then, it has rapidly spread to Europe and North America, and is now operating in about 70 countries.
It was introduced mainly for the purpose of saving energy, but many people welcomed it because they could enjoy their leisure time while basking in the sun.
Studies have also shown that crimes and traffic accidents have decreased.

However, over the years, voices paying attention to side effects are getting louder.
Recently, there has been an analysis that the social cost of adjusting the time twice a year alone amounts to trillions of won.
In particular, it is evaluated that rapid changes in body rhythm adversely affect health.

For this reason, a bill to abolish daylight saving time has been proposed several times in the United States, but it has been discarded without overcoming the power of long-standing practices.
However, the atmosphere has changed significantly ahead of the launch of the second Trump administration.
Following Elon Musk, who will lead the government's efficiency department, making the abolition of the daylight saving time system a top priority along with working from home for government employees, Trump has also publicly supported it.
Currently, the Republican Party controls both the House and Senate, making it more feasible than ever.
