The Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) notified the applicants who applied for the occasional recruitment of candidates and reversed them.

The student, who was notified of DGIST's acceptance, already passed Ajou University's science and engineering department, but gave up enrollment, and in the end, neither university was able to enter.

According to the education community, A, a third-year student at a public high school in Gyeonggi-do, received a phone call from DGIST at around 3:40 p.m. the previous day and received the confirmation.

A gave up enrollment at Ajou University, which had been notified of its acceptance, because only one school had to be selected for double acceptance.

However, when A could not confirm his name on the list of successful applicants posted on the DGIST website at around 4 p.m. that day, he directly inquired to DGIST.

Then, DGIST explained to the effect that "there was a mistake by the admission officer" and notified A of the rejection.

It has been confirmed that there was a mistake in the process of entering the successful candidate's test number by the admission officer.

DGIST reportedly told A that "admission is impossible, but we will take legal responsibility." In addition, he said in a statement, "I feel heavy responsibility for the situation," and added, "I will thoroughly reflect on and improve the lack of this school." I sincerely apologize," he said.

Meanwhile, A's high school asked the Ajou University's admissions office if it could reverse the abandonment of registration, but it was reported that it was not possible.
