A special police team summoned Choo Kyung-ho, former floor leader of the People's Power Party, as a suspect this evening.
Former floor leader Choo is accused of asking National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik to postpone the vote on lifting martial law during martial law on the 3rd, or of obstructing the vote on lifting martial law by convening an emergency general meeting of lawmakers.
In particular, it is reported that the special police team recently obtained a communication warrant for a mobile phone used by former floor leader Choo and secured some of the phone details.
Earlier on the 6th, the Democratic Party of Korea filed a complaint with the police against former floor leader Choo, calling him an accomplice for rebellion.
In response, the police special team notified former floor leader Choo of the summons on the 10th, but the first recall failed.
After publicly issuing a second summons notice and coordinating the schedule, it was confirmed that the former floor leader Choo was called in this evening to investigate.
In the meantime, former floor leader Choo has strongly denied the allegations, saying, "Because access to the National Assembly was restricted, we only set up the venue for the general meeting of the lawmakers."
In addition, former floor leader Choo reportedly said he had his first phone call with Yoon Suk Yeol's president at around 11:20 p.m., an hour after martial law was declared.
The police will also determine the authenticity of this claim.
