Google's satellite map service "Google Earth" has pointed out that various national security facilities such as the president's office, presidential residence, and military bases are exposed to the world.

Choi Hyung-doo, secretary of the National Assembly's over-defense ruling party, said in a press release that the location, satellite antennas, and rooftop facilities are clearly exposed in the presidential office, in contrast to the blurred low-resolution processing of the White House and the French presidential residence.

He then pointed out that based on data submitted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the agency did not make a "low-resolution request" to Google regarding such exposure to national security facilities.

The ministry also called on Google in November 2021 to restrict identification of national security facilities, but added that it had not received a response for nearly three years on whether it had taken action.

Choi noted that the current situation is a violation of the Information and Communication Network Act, which stipulates that photos of national security facilities should not be shared, and stressed that immediate action is needed as the KCC can request Google to correct them.
