Opposition Party Accuses Kookmin University Chairman of Suspicion of First Lady Kim's Paper

The opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, filed a complaint against three people, including Kim Ji-yong, chairman of Kookmin University, who was adopted as a witness for the parliamentary audit of Kim Gun-hee's alleged plagiarism of master's and doctoral dissertations.

During the parliamentary inspection, opposition lawmakers from the National Assembly's education committee dealt with the issue of accusing Chairman Kim, former Sookmyung Women's University President Jang Yoon-geum, and Hankyung National University professor Seol Min-shin under the National Assembly Testimony Appraisal Act.

Lawmakers from the ruling party left temporarily before the vote, saying they were not required to file a complaint because they submitted a reason for not attending due to overseas business trips and health problems, and former president Jang was not served normally.

On the other hand, opposition members pushed ahead with the agenda, citing Chairman Kim's refusal to attend witnesses for three consecutive years starting in 2022 and his long-ago demand that former President Jang not leave the country during the audit.
