Korean arrested for first time for violating China's 'anti-espionage law'

In China, a Korean citizen was arrested and detained on espionage charges.

Diplomatic sources said a Korean resident in his 50s living in Hefei, Anhui Province, China, was arrested and arrested late last year on espionage charges.

It is the first time that a Korean citizen has been arrested by the law since the Chinese government expanded and revised the Anti-Spying Act in July last year.

Chinese investigators reportedly suspected that A, who worked for a semiconductor company in China, leaked semiconductor-related information to Korea.
