The Democratic Party of Korea said it will consider impeachment, claiming that the Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea Choi Sang-sa and Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun perjured and broke the National Assembly law in a parliamentary audit.
Senior spokesman Cho Seung-rae said Lee Jae-myung made the decision after hearing the opinion that strong measures such as impeachment are needed during a luncheon meeting with four-term lawmakers of the Democratic Party.
It is said that the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol, which is raised by some opposition parties, is a serious and extraordinary situation, but a really restrained response is needed.
Nine four-term lawmakers, including Kim Min-seok, Seo Young-kyo, and Chung Cheong-rae, participated in the luncheon meeting.
