U.S. Ambassador to Korea Goldberg is January next year...an ambassador vacancy for the time being

Philip Goldberg, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, will be replaced in conjunction with the U.S. regime change.

Ambassador Goldberg is said to retire in January next year to complete his 35-year diplomatic career and leave Seoul.

After Ambassador Goldberg's transfer, a successor will be appointed and the deputy post will represent the ambassador's duties for the time being while the process of appointment proceeds.

Ambassador Goldberg took office only a year and a half after his predecessor, former Ambassador Harry Harris, took office in time for President Biden's inauguration, making it unclear how long the vacancy will continue.
