Recently, there has been a growing conflict over brokerage fees for delivery platforms.

The government's win-win consultative body is looking for a solution, and it is known that the "difference fee" is being discussed.

Fees are differentiated according to the company's sales, but it is unclear whether the restaurant company will accept it.

A famous lunch box company has announced that it will apply separate sales prices to the three delivery platforms.

The delivery platform took 30% of the delivery sales, and the problem was publicly targeted on its website.

As of last month, delivery platforms accounted for 59% of Baedal Minjok and 24% of Coupang Eats, with 97% of the three delivery companies.

The conflict is intensifying as the franchise industry accuses Baemin of the FTC of raising fees by 3 percentage points to 9.8%, the same as Coupang Eats.

[Park Ho-jin / Secretary-General of the Korean Franchise Industry Association: Baedal Minjok, a thorough monopoly operator, has continued to engage in price unfair trade practices that can arbitrarily determine prices and fees and change conditions.]

While the delivery app win-win consultative group, which was launched in July last year, put its heads together five times to solve this problem, but failed to come up with a clear solution, the consultative group is reportedly discussing the "difference fee" proposed by Baemin.

The plan is to classify companies based on delivery sales and apply a low commission rate to operators with low sales.

However, the effect of the differential fee method is not clear, and it is unclear whether the restaurant company will agree.

[Lee Yoo-seok / Professor of Business Administration at Myongji University] There were some cities in the United States that tried to cut the fees of individual small business owners by half. As a result, there were side effects such as recommending large franchises with high fees first, but the expected effect was not now achieved.]

The issue of fees for delivery platforms has also emerged as an important issue in politics and is expected to be a key agenda item for the parliamentary inspection, drawing attention to what discussions will take place on differential fees.
