The Korea Railroad Corporation and Korail received a correction order from the Fair Trade Commission for marking the KTX special room price discount rate to look higher than it actually is.
Korail advertises as if a 30% discount is applied to special room tickets on its website and mobile app for seven years from October 29, 2014, but the actual discount rate was 21.4% because the discount was not applied to the "rate" that was attached separately to the special room ticket price.
The Fair Trade Commission said Korail indicated on the ticket information confirmation screen that discounts do not apply to fares, but did not guide that ticket prices consist of fares and fares, and said the act was considered a deceptive act of labeling and advertising.
However, the Fair Trade Commission did not impose fines in consideration of Korail's suspension of such activities after media reports in 2021.
According to the Korail ticket price calculation system, fares are paid for passenger transportation, fares are sold in exchange for additional services such as spacious seats, and special rooms and honor rooms are sold at basic fares plus fares.
