Law firm Continental Aju has suspended its service, expressing regret over the initiation of disciplinary action by the Korean Bar Association in connection with its artificial intelligence-based legal service "AI Continental Aju."
At a press conference today (8th) at its office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the AI company said it did not violate the Lawyers Act and criticized the association's response as the Korean version of the British Red Flag Act, which limited the speed of steam cars to protect the 19th-century wagon industry.
In response, the Korean Bar Association issued a statement, saying that the "Korean version of the Red Flag Act" claim stems from a lack of understanding of the Bar Association policy, and that the basic position is to sternly deal with AI services without any review of the lawyer's job.
He added that the Bar Association did not prevent the advancement of technology, but maintained a principled position on actions that could violate the Lawyers Act.
