It has been pointed out that the real estate rental business reporting system, which is designed to prevent conflicts of interest if a rental business owner with a large number of real estate becomes a lawmaker, is operating in name only.

The Economic Justice Coalition held a press conference at the Gyeongsil-ryeon Auditorium in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 24th and said that the secretariat approves 100% of lawmakers' real estate rental business reports.

According to the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, a total of 28 lawmakers reported their rental business to the 22nd National Assembly Ethics Review Committee, all of whom were approved to engage in for-profit activities.

The Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice also pointed out that even though there were 115 lawmakers suspected of owning a large number of land or real estate, only 28 actually reported it, and that the current system, which relies on voluntary reporting, has clear limitations.

He also argued that a full investigation into the rental business of lawmakers should be conducted, and that unreported rental business members should be disciplined, and that a real estate sale or a blank trust system should be introduced rather than maintaining the reporting system.
