"Promote hair and ease hair loss with cosmetics"...Fake and excessive advertising detected

2024.10.25 오전 10:04
There have been cases of selling cosmetics by falsely advertising and exaggerating them as if they were drugs that have therapeutic effects, saying that the symptoms of hair loss are alleviated.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety examined 151 cosmetics sales posts distributed online, detected 67 false or exaggerated advertisements in violation of the Cosmetics Act, and asked the Korea Communications Standards Commission to block access.

In addition, 27 sales posts advertised directly by the responsible cosmetics seller among the false and excessive advertisements caught were inspected on-site and requested administrative disposition from local offices.

In the cases caught, 21 advertisements were found that could misidentify cosmetics as drugs and 6 advertisements were found that could deceive consumers or misidentify consumers.

In particular, it has been confirmed that some products have put forward "promoting new hair growth," "improving hair thickness," and "relieving inflammation," which have not been medically verified.

In addition, even though cosmetics that have been tested on animals are prohibited from being distributed or sold, there have been cases where the phrase "not tested on animals" has been put in advertisements, causing consumers to misunderstand.
