The Uijeongbu District Court sentenced A, a man in his 50s, to 20 years in prison for killing an acquaintance he was with while drinking.
On the sentencing date, which was conducted as a public participation trial, A claimed that he did not intend to kill, but was not accepted.
The court reprimanded the victim as having suffered severe pain, and the nature of the crime was very bad given the circumstances and methods of the crime.
Mr. A was put on trial in May on charges of hitting and hiding the head of a man in his 60s who was drinking with him at a farmhouse in Jeokseong-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do.
The two were investigated as they got to know each other while working as dump truck drivers, and Mr. A filmed the scene of the incident immediately after the crime and ran away, but was arrested by the police at his residence.
