Shin Hak-rim on Alleged Defamation of President Yoon, Claims for Bail

Shin Hak-rim, former chairman of the press union who is accused of defaming the president of Yoon Suk Yeol with false reports, has asked the court to try without detention.

Former chairman Shin, who was arrested and charged in July, recently filed for bail with the Seoul Central District Court.

Former chairman Shin is accused of interviewing Kim Man-bae, including false information, regarding the investigation of Busan Savings Bank during President Yoon's past prosecutors.

In addition, he was charged with receiving 165 million won as a condition of reporting it on Newstapa, and prosecutors believe that former chairman Shin and Kim were interviewed to influence the last presidential election.

Under the Criminal Procedure Act, the maximum arrest period for a defendant who is arrested and charged under the Criminal Procedure Act is 6 months, and former chairman Shin's arrest period is until January next year.

Kim, who was also handed over to trial in custody, also sought bail from the court at the end of last month.
