2024.10.03 오후 12:25
The Asahi Shimbun reported that the Japanese cabinet, Shigeru Ishiba, which was launched on the 1st, is taking a step back on the creation of an "Asian version of NATO" advocated by new Prime Minister Ishiba.

In his first press conference since taking office, new Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya said the Asian version of the NATO initiative should be considered in the mid- to long-term.

He then explained that it is very difficult to establish an organization in Asia that immediately requires mutual defense obligations.

He said it was not aimed at a specific country, adding that a security cooperation relationship that does not exclude any country is most desirable.
