The motorway continues in one direction without end.

We're escaping Hurricane Milton.

Forced evacuation orders have been issued to 5.9 million people in 11 Florida counties amid fears it will be the worst hurricane in a century.

[Melanie Wellie / Tampa resident: Leave if you can. Just go. Find shelter and neighbors, someone. If you don't have anything, you should at least go inland. Just get out of Tampa.]

Milton is moving north-southwest of Tampa with maximum sustained winds of 270 km/h.

It is expected to make landfall in midwestern Florida on the night of the 9th local time and then cross the central part of the country to the northeast the next day.

[Michael Brennan / National Hurricane Center Director: Milton has strengthened again and has become a very dangerous Category 5 hurricane. A hurricane-tracking aircraft sent data for an hour, showing maximum sustained winds of 165 mph.]

A tsunami of up to 4.6 meters is forecast on the coast of Tampa Bay, where Milton makes landfall, which is expected to cause significant flooding.

Authorities have closed key facilities, including Orlando International Airport, to prepare for emergencies.

At least 230 people were killed and trillions of won in property damage were caused by the "hullen" that landed in the southeastern United States, including Florida, on the 27th of last month.

The worst hurricane damage in U.S. history occurred during the 2005 Katrina, which killed nearly 1,400 people at the time.
