In Europe, strong winds and heavy rains brought by the Category 4 hurricane "Kirk" are causing damage.

Parts of northern France received 50 to 70 millimeters of rain a day, with up to 90 millimeters locally.

This is the amount of rain that falls in a month in previous years.

French authorities have warned that more rain could flood already submerged land, and some schools have been ordered to close.

The Dutch weather authority has also issued a flood warning.

Hurricane Kirk has maximum sustained winds of 233 kilometers per hour, sending heavy downpours with strong winds to France and the Netherlands.
