Iran predicted that even if Israel attacked Iran, it would not target major nuclear facilities.

"It is very unlikely that Israel will attack Iran's nuclear facilities," Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesman for Iran's Atomic Energy Commission, said in an interview with Iranian media outlet Nur-News on the 16th local time. "Even if an attack occurs, it is very unlikely to cause serious damage."

"Even if there is some damage, Iran can quickly restore it," he said.

Earlier, the U.S. media reported, citing multiple officials, that Israel, which predicted retaliation for Iran's ballistic missile attack, had conveyed its intention to the U.S. side to strike military facilities, not nuclear or oil-related facilities.

In response, Israel's prime minister's office said in a statement: "We listen to the U.S. government's thoughts, but we will make a final decision based on Israel's national security needs."
